Weather forecasters are still making predictions about whether there will be morning Oregon Coast clouds, and how long they might linger, on Monday, Aug. 21, when the solar eclipse happens. Here’s a guide to when the eclipse will start in towns along the Oregon Coast.

At this point, the North Coast is looking like it will be cloudier longer than the Central Coast. The eclipse begins in Astoria at 9:06 a.m., and ends at 11:36 a.m., lasting a total of two hours and 30 minutes.
According to the Lincoln City Visitor & Convention Bureau’s lincolncityeclipse.com, the solar eclipse will begin at 9:15 a.m., and end at 11:15 a.m. Totality will occur at 10:16 a.m., lasting about two minutes.
The Central Coast town of Newport is in the path of totality. The eclipse there begins at 9:04 a.m. and ends at 11:36 a.m. Obscuration — the amount of the sun that will be covered by the moon — will be at 100 percent at 10:16 a.m. That totality will last one minute and 49 seconds.
